of the Green Trails Improvement Association
Board of Directors Meeting
Tuesday March 10, 2009
President, Peter Bakas called the meeting to order at 7:30 PM at
Kennedy Jr High School. Board members present: Peter Bakas, Pat
Coughlin-Schillo, Marisa DeAngelis, Rodd Elges, Linda Gilbert, Don
Helgeson, Marg Hough, Julie LaFond, Christy McGovern, Roxanne Nagel,
Michael Olson. Board member excused: Les Lavin. Board members
absent: Rob Getz, Gerry Jackson, Terri Kolman. Management: Joanne
Broda. Paula Gleason was Recording Secretary. A quorum was present.

Forum
Green Trails resident, Lynn Hodak, distributed and reviewed a
synopsis of her accomplishments and goals in her bid, during the April
2009 election for School Board District 203.
Minutes
of the Prior Meeting:
Minute of the February meeting were reviewed.
Board Motion: Julie LaFond moved to approve the February minutes,
Marg Hough seconded. The motion was passed by unanimous voice vote.
Treasurer's
Report
Don Helgeson reviewed the February Balance Sheet and Income and
Expense Statement.
Board Motion: Rodd Elges motioned to accept the revised check
register expenditures of $9,859.52 for March, Michael Olson seconded.
The motion was passed by unanimous voice vote.
Management Report
Telephone log line items were reviewed.
Management noted that 55 demand notices for delinquent assessments
were mailed out on 03/02.
Copies of the Kane-DuPage list of evergreen trees available for sale
were distributed.
Board Motion: Peter Bakas motioned to approve the purchase of ten
Colorado Blue Spruce and ten Black Hills Spruce trees, if Gerry
Jackson will pick them up, Don Helgeson seconded. The motion was
passed by unanimous voice vote.
Management distributed area trail maps to Board members so that they
may conduct individual inspections of trails in their area of
representation. Findings of trip hazards, drainage problems and
miscellaneous repair requirements are to be documented for each trail
area ID and turned in with the maps by the next Board meeting.
Management asked if the Board would like a spring application of
insect control to the pines along College Road, by Spring-Green, in
the amount of $1,362.75. The consensus of the Board was to request
Spring-Green to only treat the College Road pines for insect control
and root feeding in the fall, at a cost of $1,708.90.
Management noted that there were no new sales in February for the
College Green apartment-condo conversion.
Management reported that there were no new sales in February in the
Torrey Pines conversion.
Management provided a list of February 2009 newcomers. Board
Directors are encouraged to call on newcomers in their respective
areas.
Finance Committee
Don Helgeson reported that the Finance Committee will meet with the
auditor, Robert Ripp, on Tuesday, March 24th at 7:00 PM, in the home
of Management, to review the GTIA 2008 audit.
Maintenance Committee
No report.

No report.
Parks
Committee
No report.
Nominating Committee
No report.
Old Business - New Business
Marg Hough inquired if there was any information available regarding a
permanent traffic light at Abbeywood and College. Julie LaFond asked
if there were any impending Village street projects that might affect
Green Trails. Management will report information on either or both of
these issues as it becomes available.
Board Member Area Reports
Area L – Rodd Elges reported on positive feedback from residents
regarding the association.
Executive Session
None required.
Adjournment
Board Motion: There being no further business, Marg Hough motioned to
adjourn the meeting, Rodd Elges seconded. The motion was passed by a
unanimous voice vote; the meeting was adjourned at 8:20 p.m.
